The mastery system is live
The mastery system shipped this week. It's the biggest single feature we have built so far. Every class ability has its own tree. Every node is a side-grade, not an upgrade. The respec button is free and instant.
The design rule
No upgrades, ever. Only trade-offs. Three hundred and sixty nodes are wired across four classes today, with bespoke mechanics behind every one.
- Cast your nuke while moving. It deals less damage.
- Stun lasts twice as long. The cooldown doubles.
- Your shield also heals you. It costs more mana.
- Your dash gains a charge. The cooldown on each charge is longer.
Two players running the same loadout will play differently after they hit the first mastery point. That was the goal from the start.
Balance via simulation
The simulation suite we wrote alongside lets us spot which trees push too hard or too soft before the build ships. We are not flying blind on balance. The next pass will pull the duel sim numbers and tune outliers.
